Two Events, One Cause.
Annual Hudson Valley Food Lovers' Festival: Farm On!

Friends of the Farmer Festival

Copake, N.Y. - Each year in late July the “Farm On! Friends of the Farmer Festival” organizes two fundraising events to support the Hudson Valley’s local food system and farmers.

The first, is a benefit dinner featuring one of the region’s many prominent chefs. Seated at each table is a local farmer and their family providing guests with firsthand experiences with the people who make their food.

The second event is the ‘Friends of the Farmer Festival, designed to engage the community with a robust farmer’s market, vendors with local libations and a wide range of kid-friendly activities, such as a baby petting zoo, pony rides and more.

In addition, there will be group events such as "It’s Five O’clock Somewhere” and a Barn to Belly - Meet your Farmer Mixer that kicks off a Q+A celebrating the farmer as food celebrity.

Our mission is to raise both funds and awareness for the Farm On! Foundation and Camp Farm on! and to educate students about careers in the local food system and the entrepreneurial spirit needed to nurture such businesses.

At our one-week summer camp, each student will visit local farms and pitch profitable solutions to a panel of highly successful venture capitalists. Ultimately, our aim is for students also realize that despite chef’s getting all the credit, local farmers are the real culinary celebrities.

Founded and produced by the Culinary Partnership, a company specializing in launching food products, owned by Tessa Edick, the event raises scholarship money for students participating in Cornell University’s Cooperative Extension, Questar III and 4H and bring awareness to consumers through the ‘know your famers, know your food’ mission.

“I’m standing up for my farming community and my food choices, by meeting one farmer at a time!” points out Ms. Edick.

“We want kids participating in Camp Farm On! to know farming is not only cool, it can be a highly profitable business. Paring agriculture with an ROI business mentality makes for viable livelihoods and gives the next generation of farmers the tools to succeed today.  Only then can we talk about succession and the future of farming.”
